Griffith

If you need a tool to help you manage your movie collection and if you want that tool to be free, then you need to go get Griffith, an application for both Linux and Windows. With this application, you will be able to import movie info from the web, edit said info, manage loans, rate movies, and more.

The Griffith installation file for Windows is about 15MB in size, which is not much. Download this file, run it, and you will be presented with a simple setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. It is, in all fairness, a standard setup process that will not take long to complete.

The Griffith interface is divided into two panes: the pane to the right presents a list of all the movies in your collection; select a movie from the list and more info about it will be presented in the pane to the right. Above these two panes there’s a traditional File Menu and buttons for various functions Griffith can perform.

If you want to do things on your own, you can manually enter info about a movie in your collection. A more efficient way to go about it is to let Griffith download movie info from the web. To do so, you need only type in the name of the movie, select an online resource (like DVDEmpire, for example), and hit the “Get from web button.” Once Griffith is done importing the info, you can edit it or add more details.
